House System
At Francis Baily Primary School, our House System helps to build community, teamwork and a sense of pride. Every pupil and member of staff belongs to one of our houses, and together they work towards shared goals and celebrate collective achievements.
How It Works
- Children are allocated to a house when they join the school and remain in it throughout their time at Francis Baily
- Siblings are placed in the same house to strengthen family connections
- Pupils earn house points for effort, good behaviour, kindness, sporting success and achievement in learning
- Points are added up weekly, with totals shared in assembly.
Celebrating Success
At the end of each term, the winning house is celebrated. More importantly, the system gives children a sense of belonging, teamwork and friendly competition.
House Names
Our Houses are named after the classical elements—Air, Earth, Fire and Water—symbolising the forces that have shaped exploration and discovery, and reflecting our school’s astronomical heritage and values of Care, Explore and Grow.

Why it Matters
The House System teaches children the importance of:
- Working together towards a shared goal
- Celebrating one another’s strengths
- Showing resilience and sportsmanship
- Taking pride in their school community.
