Governor Vacancies

Help Shape the Future of Francis Baily Primary School

Our Governing Body plays a vital role in the life of the school, offering strategic leadership, supporting school improvement, and ensuring accountability. Governors work closely with the Headteacher and leadership team to help secure the best outcomes for every pupil.

At Francis Baily Primary School, we are proud to have a committed and active group of governors who bring a range of skills, perspectives and professional experiences to the table. Together, we share one goal: to ensure that every child is inspired, empowered, and given the opportunity to improve and thrive.

What do Governors Do?

School governors are volunteers who:

  • Contribute to the school’s strategic direction
  • Monitor educational performance and progress
  • Support the school leadership while holding them to account
  • Ensure the school’s finances are well-managed and used effectively
  • Champion the school’s values and vision within the community.

You don’t need to be an education expert, just someone with the time, commitment and interest to make a positive difference.

Could You Be a Governor?

We welcome interest from people of all backgrounds and walks of life. Whether you're a parent, a professional, a local resident or simply someone passionate about education, you can bring valuable insight to our team.

We’re especially keen to hear from individuals with skills in:

  • Finance or business
  • HR and people management
  • Education or child development
  • Community engagement
  • Data analysis or strategic planning.

Full training and support are provided, and governors are encouraged to develop their skills through ongoing development opportunities.
