Pupil Leadership

At Francis Baily Primary School, we believe that children should be active partners in their education. When pupils are given meaningful leadership opportunities, they grow in confidence, responsibility and pride, and they help make our school an even better place to learn and thrive.

Our Pupil Leadership programme gives children from across the school the chance to develop their voice, take on responsibility and contribute positively to school life. Leadership roles reflect our values - Care, Explore, Grow, as well as key elements of British Values, including democracy, responsibility and respect.

As you can see from the list below, we offer a wide range of leadership opportunities across the school. Each role helps pupils learn to collaborate, solve problems, communicate clearly and take pride in leading others.

School Council Representatives

Our School Council represents pupil's voice across the whole school. Councillors are elected by their classmates and meet regularly to:

  • Share ideas and suggestions from their peers
  • Discuss improvements to school life
  • Support charity events and fundraising
  • Help shape school projects and themes
  • Promote inclusion, kindness and teamwork.

How members are chosen:

  • Each class elects two representatives
  • Elections take place each autumn term
  • Pupils prepare a short speech or presentation before voting.

The School Council teaches children about democracy, fairness, listening to others and making decisions as a group.
