Remote Education
At Francis Baily, we are committed to ensuring that learning continues for all our pupils, even when they are learning from home. This page provides all the key information to support families during periods of remote education
Remote Education Provision: Information for Parents/Carers
This information is intended to provide clarity and transparency to pupils and parents/carers about what to expect from remote education if local restrictions require entire cohorts (classes or year groups) to remain at home.
Our Aims During Periods of Remote Education
During any periods of remote education, our aims are to:
- Ensure all pupils continue to access a high-quality, age-appropriate curriculum
- Maintain strong communication between home and school
- Support pupil wellbeing and engagement during remote learning.
Initial Days of Remote Education
A pupil’s first day or two of being educated remotely might look different from our standard approach, while we take all necessary actions to prepare for a longer period of remote teaching.Class teachers will upload work to be completed during remote education to Google Classroom. In the first few days, this will typically be worksheet based.
Following Days of Remote Education
We teach the same curriculum remotely as we do in school wherever possible and appropriate. However, we have needed to make some adaptations in some subjects. We use a combination of the following approaches to teach pupils remotely:
- live teaching (online lessons)
- uploaded tasks (e.g. worksheets)
- reading books pupils have at home.
