* Please be on time to pick your child up. If you think you are going to be late for any reason, please telephone the school office and we will hold onto your child until you arrive. If you regularly need to pick your child up later than the end of the school day, please make use of the Out of Hours Club (see below).

Getting to School
Parents are responsible for their children until the doors open. We encourage all children to walk, cycle or scooter to school but we also understand that this can be difficult for working parents. If children are brought to school by car, please drive carefully, considerately and have respect for our neighbours, particularly if parking in the nearby roads. We have a dedicated cycle rack to the right of the main school gates for those pupils who wish to cycle or scooter to school. Note: The school cannot accept responsibility for these items and please do not let pupils cycle or scooter around the school site.

Registration
Registration is at 8:55am. Children who arrive after the register is closed will be marked late and recorded as an unauthorised absence.

Lunchtime
Children can either have school meals or packed lunches.  For more information, please see the School Meals page.

Snacks & Drinks
Children are encouraged to bring a healthy snack for morning break. Foundation children will receive a free piece or fruit every morning under the Government Healthy Eating Initiative. All children are asked to bring a bottle of water daily, clearly labelled with their name, and will be encouraged to drink regularly throughout the day.

Out of Hours Clubs
We run a daily Breakfast Club between 7:30am-8:55am, in which the children are given breakfast and escorted to the classroom by the Breakfast Club staff. Our After School Club runs every day between 3:20pm-6:00 pm. Children are given an afternoon snack. For further information, including costs, please contact the school office or go to the Baily's Comets Out of Hours Club page.

After School Activities
Our staff offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities on a voluntary basis. There are also some clubs run by outside agencies where fees may be applicable.  More information is available on the School Clubs page

School Closure
Very occasionally, due to extreme weather conditions (such as heavy snow) or failure of key services (such as heating, water or electricity), it may be necessary to close the school. In these circumstances, we aim to inform parents as quickly as possibly by text message, posting information on this website, posting on the school Facebook page or recording a message on the school answer-machine. Local radio stations such as BBC Radio Berkshire may also make announcements.
