Pupil Premium

Please read the information below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.

The pupil premium is additional funding given to schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers. These pupils include those who are entitled to free school meals, those Looked After by the Local Authority and children of armed service personnel. Our vision for all at Francis Baily is to provide a caring and safe learning environment in which children develop pride and respect for themselves and others and enjoy their learning. We believe in this vision for all children and that no child should be disadvantaged because of circumstances. Francis Baily is proud of the high number of interventions put into place at our school and the monitoring of their impact. For example, we:

  • operate a variety of after school clubs, homework clubs and educational trips which pupil premium children can be helped financially to attend to allow them the same opportunities as their peers.
  • have two emotional literacy support assistants (ELSA).
  • have a high number of classroom support assistants and well monitored interventions.
  • have well trained staff who contribute to making a real difference for each and every one of our pupils.
  • However we recognise that not all children who receive pupil premium will be socially disadvantaged and we also recognise that not all children who are disadvantaged receive pupil premium. We reserve the right to allocate Pupil Premium funding to support any child the school has identified as being in need.
  • the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Governors monitor how effectively the school is spending its Pupil Premium funding to maximise achievement and analyse any gaps. The SENDCO and SLT effectively track all individual Pupil Premium children to monitor their progress and the effectiveness of any interventions in place.
